Garden Room Installer

Guildford Surrey - Must be able to travel to various locations for installations.

Fulltime - CIS Day Rate or (PAYE option)

About Us:

New Timber Spaces Ltd is a small, busy fabrication, installation and construction company specialising in timber frame buildings, typically garden rooms and small extensions, although our portfolio extends beyond these.  The team currently consists of owner manager, Financial Controller and Projects Coordinator along with 7 carpenters/installers plus contracted electricians, plumbers and plasterers.  We are seeking additional installers to join our knowledgeable team and contribute to our continued growth. 

Job Summary:

You will be tasked with the assembly, installation, and finishing of garden rooms tailored to individual client specifications. This role involves working with a variety of materials including timber, steel, insulation products and other construction materials. Working directly for the end-client along with NTS team members to ensure that all installations meet and exceed design brief, safety regulations, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Carpentry; Construction; Installation/Assembly:
• Site preparation, including groundwork, and ground screw installation as needed.
• Assemble/build and install garden rooms on-site, walls, roofing, flooring, insulation, doors, and windows etc.
• Complete first fix electrical wiring
• Perform all required carpentry for studwork and framing
• Carry out finishing work, including painting, and fitting laminate flooring internal furnishings or fixtures.

Quality Control and Site Safety:

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations on-site to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Identify and report any issues or defects during the installation process and implement corrective measures.
• Operate and maintain tools, plant and machinery required for installation, including saws, drills, and power tools.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are stored safely and kept in good working order.
• Ensure that the job site is cleaned and restored to its original state upon project completion.

Customer Service and Communication:

• Liaise with clients on-site to discuss project progress, answer questions, and address any concerns they may have.
• Provide clear communication with team members and project manager regarding project timelines, challenges, and updates.

About You:  

This opportunity will suit someone looking to develop and diversify their experience further.  As a small business you will be able to work on multiple projects and gain familiarity with different materials, systems, suppliers and structures.  Although we are ideally seeking individuals with a background in construction you may have a background in, roofing, conservatory builds, fenestration, landscaping, fabrication, decorating or perhaps just looking for a complete change of career, but able to bring a positive enthusiastic approach and desire to achieve whilst delivering excellence.

Experience 

• Vocational training in carpentry, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in garden room installation or with modular or timber-frame or SIP construction is a plus.
• Carpentry and general construction skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Clear communication and customer service manner.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in the use of power tools and site construction equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Full driving licence able to drive company vehicles or your own van.
• Certification or apprenticeship in carpentry or construction.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, or landscaping.
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent safety certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
• Comfortable with working at single storey heights and using ladders or scaffolding towers.
